This workshop introduces deep-water rescue techniques for solo and group paddlers. The class covers techniques for solo re-entry of a kayak following a wet exit as well as assisted drain and re-enter rescues involving two or more paddlers. It also covers basic safety concerns and safety-related features of sea kayaks, paddling equipment, and towing. Of the many techniques one could learn, our focus will be on learning a few techniques that work almost anywhere, including rough water. We’ll take a lunch break on the beach (perhaps with a run up to the boardwalk to get some hot coffee!), discuss the morning and then continue through the afternoon.
